Using Drawmer Monitor Controllers

Almost all of our studios use one of a few different models of Drawmer Monitor Controllers to route audio from the audio interface (please click here for more information about the RME audio interfaces that we use) and auxiliary input ("Aux") to the loudspeakers and headphones. A monitor controller functions like a small mixer: it receives input from a variety of sources, sums the signals together, and sends the output to various destinations.There a few different models with different specific requirements, but they all work similarly. The main controls to be aware of are (1) the "Source Select" section, which in most cases will allow you to select whether to listen to the audio interface or the Aux input, (2) the "Speaker Select" section which lets you pick which set of speakers receives the output signal (note that although you can, you will almost never want to use multiple pairs of speakers at once!), and (3) the large "Master Volume" knob that controls the output volume level.Please see the induction video below for a more in-depth look at these devices.
