Get up to speed with Microsoft Teams, the communication and teamwork hub of Office 365. Teams brings together colleagues, conversations, and content, allowing users to collaborate more seamlessly.

This course walks through everything you need to know about using Teams, starting with how to set up a team and join an existing team. The course covers how to organise teams and engage in conversations. You'll learn how to share files with colleagues and initiate video and audio meetings on Teams—both scheduled and impromptu.

    Learning Objectives:

    • How to Access Teams
    • Touring the interface
    • Creating a Team
    • Managing and deleting teams, channels, and conversations
    • Sharing files
    • Customising channel tabs
    • Scheduling a meeting and inviting attendees
    • Using chats for private messages
    • Adjusting user settings
    • Using the mobile app for iOS and Android

    Why use Teams?:

It's completely up to you and your team whether you use teams and to what extent you use it. But we think it is pretty great and helps us save time, and work better together. I have listed some of the benefits we have found from using it.

    Advantages of using Teams:

    • Cut down on internal emails: Catch up on the latest messages sent by your colleagues in one scroll. No more searching for the most up to date email chain or attachment.
    • Less formal than email: save time by cutting out the formal wording of emails, and cut down on the amount of thank you emails you send, receive and delete. Use the chat feature to instant message someone without having to create a specific team.
    • Co-author MS documents with multiple colleagues at the same time, the latest copy of the document will save automatically.
    • Retrieve old versions of documents saved automatically in Teams and SharePoint.
    • Have all the information, documentation and correspondence you need for a particular project/ topic of work in one place.
    • Have conference video chat meetings and calls without having to have personal phone numbers.
    • Access teams on a browser from any device, meaning you can access the information you need from anywhere.
    • Download the app on your phone and access Teams on the go.
    • Your Outlook calendar is automatically synced, and you can book meetings directly in teams. Particularly useful if you have teams on your phone and you need to quickly check the location/time of a meeting.
    • The user-friendly interface makes it simple and easy to use.
    • Customise your Team with apps and flow.
