    This guide attempts to answer some of the more commonly asked questions that you might have.

  • Moodle is a free and open-source learning management system (LMS).

    Developed on pedagogical principles Moodle is used for blended learning, distance education, flipped classroom and other e-learning projects in schools, universities, workplaces and other sectors.

    At Guildhall you will use Moodle to: 

    • access important class resources
    • submit your coursework
    • take part in online discussions and forums

    WHAT IS THE RIGHT LOGIN FOR YOU?

    We have two separate logins on our Moodle home page:

    • If you are a Senior school student ,member of staff or taking one our short courses please use the top two login buttons (number 1 and 2 in the picture above). This will prompt the OneLogin authentication.
    • Junior Guildhall students and External Examiners please use the bottom login panel (number 3 above)

    WHAT ARE MY LOGIN DETAILS?

    SENIOR SCHOOL STUDENTS AND GUILDHALL STAFF 

    • Senior School Students: you can log in with your IT credentials 
    • Guildhall Staff: you can login using the credentials your staff IT credential. This would normally be firstname.lastname and your password. If you do not have a Moodle account, this will be automatically created on your first login. 
    • Online Short Courses Students: You will receive your details via email. For any questions please email shortcourses@gsmd.ac.uk 

    JUNIOR GUILDHALL, SHORT COURSES and all other External Users

    • Junior Guildhall Students: if you need to create an account please follow this guidance.
    • All External Users (i.e. external examiners, supervisors, visiting lectures): You will receive your details via email. For any questions please refer to your school administration contact.



  • JUNIOR GUILDHALL Students ONLY: 

    If you need to reset your password, please  e-mail:  Juniors@gsmd.ac.uk

  • Self-service password changes

    The OneLogin self-service password reset feature lets you reset your own password.  Click “Forgot Password” on the OneLogin page and follow the prompts.


  • To access a course module simply click on 'My course' on the top right hand side of the page. You will see a series of tiles, each representing a module you are enrolled on.

    You should be able to see all your modules. If you don't please contact your course administrator. 



  • In the interests of security please log out of the site when you have finished using it. Simply click on 'My Courses' and then the "Logout" link under your profile  picture.


    NB Simply closing the web browser without logging off leaves your session open. Anyone logging on to Moodle on the machine you have been using may be able to access your material and communicate with the system using your ID.
